The Ritual of the Flame: A Care Guide
Our candles are poured raw, thoughtfully designed to breathe a quiet calm into your home. Because pure, unadulterated beeswax possesses a living character, tending to your candle ensures a slow, beautiful, and complete burn from the inside out.
Follow this simple ritual to honor the life of your flame.
The First Light: Setting the Memory
The initial burn establishes the path the flame will follow. Lighting a pillar too briefly coaxes it to tunnel straight down, leaving a wealth of golden wax untouched.
The 2x3 Mini Pillar: Dedicate at least 1.5- 2 hours to its first light.
The 3x3 Classic Pillar: Dedicate at least 3-4 hours to its first light.
The Golden Rule: Do not extinguish the flame until the molten pool of wax gently warms and reaches almost entirely to the outer edges.
The Tealight: Designed for simplicity, tealights flourish when allowed to burn completely from start to finish in a single sitting (approximately 4 to 5 hours). Extinguishing them early may drown the wick.
Preservation and Care
Trim the Wick
Before every single light, trim the pure cotton wick of your pillar to 1/4 inch. A short, disciplined wick ensures a steady, clean flame and keeps smoke entirely at bay."Hugging" Your Pillar
As your pillar burns down, it will naturally leave a delicate, translucent wall of wax along the perimeter. Once you extinguish the flame, while the wax is still supple and warm, gently press these top edges inward with your fingers. This mindful shaping folds the wax back into the center, ensuring none of it is wasted.Seek Still Air
Place your candles away from the hurried air of open windows, fans, or vents. Still air prevents the flame from dancing unevenly, protecting your surfaces from unexpected drips.Honoring the "Bloom"
Over time, a soft, ethereal white mist will settle onto the surface of your candle. Known as "bloom," this natural frosting is not a flaw. It is the signature of time, and absolute proof of 100% pure, unrefined beeswax. Embrace its rustic beauty, or gently buff it away with a soft cloth or the warmth of your hands.
The Quiet Finish
Knowing When to Part: For a safe and gentle end, discontinue lighting your pillars once the wax pool lowers to the final 1/2 inch.
Snuff with Intention: Rather than blowing out the flame, which scatters smoke and hot wax, use a snuffer, or gently press the lit wick into its own liquid pool to quench it cleanly.
The Second Life: The journey doesn't end here. Scrape any hardened remnants from your iron or ceramic plates and place them in a wax warmer to capture the final, sweet traces of raw honey.
A Note on Safety: A naked flame requires your presence. Always burn your candle within sight, atop a heat-resistant surface, and safely out of reach of curious children, pets, and drafts.
